Grab The Games: UnderRail

Do you still miss games like Fallout 1 & 2? Well this is your lucky day because Underail is probably the closed game you have seen to thes titles. Basically, Underail is an old school turn-based isometric indie role playing game that focuses on exploration and combat. The game is set in a distant future, when the life on the Earth's surface has long since been made impossible and the remnants of humanity now dwell in the Underail, a vast system of metro station-states that, it seems, are the last bastions of a fading race.

The player takes control of one of the denizens of such a station-state whose life is about to become all that much more interesting and dangerous, as our protagonist is caught midst the conflicting factions of the Underail as the violently struggle to survive in the harsh underground environment. To begin with, the very first thing that I loved in this game is definitely the old-school graphics which definitely fit the overall experience of the title. All the characters in the game are well created and everything from the conversations to the environments are reach and full of details. Furthermore, I love the initial character creation system. You can choose your name, your portrait, choose skills and many more.

You should choose wisely because your choices matter and they will affect the game and your overall experience. Moreover, you can choose between two level up systems and that totally depends on the way you want to play the game. You can play with oddities which you find/discover in hidden places and/or steal from people. Or the classic way by getting experience for encounters. I chose the oddity system which I found well balanced and gives depth to the overall good gaming experience. The vendor system is also brilliant designed and you can trade with the merchants but sometimes they need specific things from you and not generally items.

As far as the negative aspects are concerned, there aren't much but I had to mention a few it would be definitely the fact that the game gets really difficult quickly and you can't improvise much, you should choose your moves and your strategy carefully or else you are dead. Moreover, another negative for me is that sometimes the merchants/vends are too picky sometimes especially if you consider that in the game we live underground and there aren't much to go around.

To sum up, the game is almost perfect. There are some negative aspects but they don’t affect the overall good gameplay experience that this title has to offer. You should buy it especially if you love games like Fallout 1 or 2 or Divine Original Sin or other Isometric RPGs.

Verdict 8.5/10
