Grab The Games: The Flame in the Flood

Today, I am really proud to present you a really fun and inspiring game called The Flame In The Flood. But what is this game and is it worth picking it up? You will find out right now! But first let me properly introduce you the game. A rogue-lite river journey through the backwaters of a forgotten post-societal America. Forage, craft, evade predators. From the Art Director of BioShock and a team of veterans of the BioShock, Halo, Guitar Hero and Rock Band series comes The Flame in the Flood.

Travel by foot and by raft down a procedurally-generated river as you scrounge for resources, craft tools, remedy afflictions, evade the vicious wildlife, and most importantly, stay ahead of the coming rains. The game is also developed and created by the Molasses Flood. The first aspect that I love in the game is definitely the graphics. The art style is simply mesmerizing, soothing and in combination with the ambient sound and soundtrack it creates a really amazing atmosphere even more the most demanding players out there. But could you expect something less from a veteran dev and art director team? Another positive aspect in the title is definitely that the game is truly a survival game and very realistic I may add.

You have limited space to carry items and you should look after yourself from dehydration, starvation and fatigue. You should always take care of yourself while trying to explore the islands and continue your journey. Moreover, I should also mention that the wildlife in this game like boars and bears are amazing and they add another difficulty level to the already challenging title. Moreover, I love the whole rafting and travelling between the islands and it is really fun I may add. But you should get used to it a little bit in order to travel as safe as possible.

The UI is also simple and elegant and you can wrap the whole feeling you get from the game in one world elegant! As far as the negative aspects are concerned, something that I didn't love is certainly the small inventory for me is an issue, even that it adds realism, sometimes it just frustrating that you have to carry so limited supplies. Moreover, another negative aspect for me is that the game has no storyline. I hope that they will add at least some small story elements in the near future.

To sum up, the game is a small gem for your eyes and your steam library even though it is an early access title. I definitely recommend it for everyone and that they should pick it up immediately.

Verdict: 8.5/10
