Grab The Games: Tales from the Borderlands

Zer0 Sum Premiere Episode review by Dionysis Spinos

Hello everyone and welcome back to another review by me and Grab The Games. I am so excited that we have hands-on one of the most anticipated games of 2014 Tales from the Borderlands. I would like before we proceed to the actual review to thank Telltale games for this amazing chance and their trust to review this game!

Tales from the Borderlands is the new game series added to the Telltale Game family. But why we should get it Dionysis? Will it be like all the rest Telltales games? Is it truly worth getting? No worries guys, I am here to answer all your questions and let me tell you one thing, in my opinion this game so far is the best game from Telltale Games, they have really achieved something great! At first when I heard that Telltale choose to do a series game for Borderlands I was a little bit worried that it will not be good or it will not be good enough as The Walking Dead or The Wolf Among Us but this devs achieved something even better and managed to raise the standards in their games.

But what is TFTB? Tales from the Borderlands is a five parts episodic game set on the unforgiving world of Pandora after the events seen in Borderlands 2. You'll play as Rhys, a Hyperion 'suit' with dreams of being the next Handsome Jack, Fiona, and a Pandoran con artist looking to score her biggest ever swindle. Thrown together as unwilling partners in an adventure to recover cash they both think is theirs, journey will take you on a wild ride where gangsters, bandit lords, and Vault Hunters are just some of the obstacles you'll encounter In this new take on the award-winning universe created by Gearbox Software.

Let's start now talking about the things I love in this game and let me tell you there is a lot of them! To begin with, the graphics of the game are simply AAA just like any Borderlands game you have played, the graphics are colorful and vivid something I always loved in all Borderlands and Telltale games. Something that also loved in this game is the fact that it is not only about makin decisions and pressing buttons all the time. Now the characters have abilities too that will be very useful during your (return) trip to Pandora. Rhys has an Eye-Tech that allows him to scan objects and hack them a really useful ability that will also give you additional info for some objects in your environment, while Fiona is the money spender she can bribe and buy some cool stuff during the journey which I found really cool!

Moreover, the game is FULL of good humor which is something I loved in this game and I was laughing all the time. Another thing I should also mention is the fact that there are a lot of references to the Borderland games that really helps you understand more things about Pandora and its characters. Something I also enjoy is that the choices you make in the game really matter and tailor the game exactly the way you choose it to be and you will the see consequences of your choices of course.

The plot is also a strong positive aspect of the game that promises and delivers a great gameplay experience full of humor, twists and a lot of action! Honestly, I cannot find any negative aspects to mention, this premiere episode is by far the best premiere of all telltale games. Finally, I totally recommend this game to everyone who loves gaming not just Borderlands, not just Telltale games but to everyone who wants to have a great time full of humor, action and twists. One of the best replay experience I had during this year. Can't wait for the next episodes!

Verdict 10/10
