Grab The Games: Phoenix Point

“The Phoenix Project is a worldwide organization designed to be activated when the world is in peril. You control one cell, gathering some of the world’s best scientists, engineers, and soldiers. After your cell is activated, you realize that you have no contact with any other cells. You need to find out what happened to them.” That’s how I want to start my preview of the game today and I am really happy to present you a title I was really happy to get my hands on. I am talking about the highly anticipated title called Phoenix Point.

After playing only a few hours, I couldn’t be happier not only that we have the opportunity to review it but also that we are going to present why this title is unique! But what is this game? Is it worth the hype? Should you pick it up when available? Stick around and you will find out but before we begin I would like to mention that we got our hands on an early build of the game and the final product will have far more features. Let’s start by mentioning a few things about the game itself. Phoenix Point is the new strategy game from the creator of the original X-COM series. It features turn-based tactics and world based strategy in a fight against a terrifying, alien menace. Your enemy will mutate and evolve in response to your tactics, creating a huge variety of challenges and surprises for you on the battlefield. Sounds cool right? But wait there is more.

The graphics are satisfying enough. There is a great attention to detail, satisfactory level design with a lot of areas to hide and other points of interest. All these create a great atmosphere even for the most demanding players. As far as the combat is concerned, there a lot of weapons and play styles you can follow and I guarantee that you will find something that suits the way you want to play. I also, love the fact that you will face an alien threat that mutates and evolves new forms in response to your tactics.

Furthermore, I was really impressed with how deeply strategic the game is and that it requires good thinking and planning ahead and definitely don’t go all guns blazing because you will die for sure. As far as the negative answers are concerned, honestly I just want to see how the final product will shape up. In the build we got our hands on there was no campaign, no technology and we really can’t wait to see more of the game.

To sum up, as I mentioned the game so far is a gem for all of you X-COM series fans, with a well-designed world and a constantly evolving alien threat. If Phoenix point plays all its cards right, it can become a massive success and leave up to everyone's expectations. Can't wait to see what the final product will look like! Keep an eye on this one.
