Grab The Games: Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty

Our favorite Abe is back! I can't describe how happy I am that this title has been revamped and drawn into 2015! I had played the original back in the days and honestly everything feels like brand new in Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty. You are not familiar with this game? Too bad but no worries I got your back. Explore ancient ruins, dodge carnivorous beasts and avoid trigger-happy guards as Abe, the original Oddworld hero in this lovingly recrafted take on the classic adventure "Abe's Odyssee".

Once a happy floor waxier in Oddworld's biggest meat processing plant, Abe stumbles across his boss's secret plan to turn the factory's slave labor force into the latest in the Rupture Farms Tasty Treats line of novelty meat snacks. Abe now has to save his own skin from the grinders, but simply escaping the flesh farm is only the start of his Odyssee - for many dangers await Abe on his journey to discover his destiny. Built from scratch from the ground up, enjoy new breathtaking visuals, enhanced audio and improved, deeper gameplay as New 'n' Tasty reignites the original Oddworld game using the latest next-generation technology. Enough with the introductions. Time to start our main review!

To begin with, something that will leave you speechless definitely is how graphics are improved comparing with the original and in general how the latest next-gen technology can bring such an excellent and breathtaking results. Also, with the direction of the series creator Lorne Lanning there are new fluid animations and new free-moving cameras and high resolution (up to 4K). Furthermore something that is totally improved and I am really happy about are the controls that are revamped and Aby has learned some new tricks thanks to them and not only that but also, you can change to the old-school controls whenever you like and enjoy some classic Oddworld action. How cool is that?

Moreover, Oddworld has another secret for us. There are new areas, secrets, subtle gameplay changes and a few surprises. Fans will recognize the huge meat grinders, Scrab holding pens and cavernous caves, but there's more than enough that's new here to keep you on your toes. Something that it should definitely be mentioned is the co-op addition in this title which gives an amazing and unique aspect to this title. I also loved how you can save your own people and the whole chanting mechanics. However, there are some negative aspects that I should mention that to be honest they didn't even really stopped from enjoying this game. First and foremost, the platforming itself sometimes is a little bit chucky leading to instant death yours or your followers. Furthermore, this game has caused some rage quits because it is so difficult in some areas but I still love it.

To sum up, it seems that 2015 is the year of remasters/revamped titles. But honestly when they done right they offer one of a kind experience. Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty is one of the cases of the games that you feel honored to play. It offers not only a breathtaking experience for the new players but it also adds to the players of the original a sense of nostalgia. This title remains so fresh and cult at the same time! Don't waste your time. Aby is waiting for you to help him!
