Grab The Games: Kona

Today, we have the privilege to review one of the newest titles of Parabole, Kona: Day one and honestly I couldn't be happier about it. But what is this game? Is it that good to pick it up? Kôna is the first act of a narrative-driven interactive tale in which the player faces many mysteries and challenges in a wintry rural environment in the year 1970. You incarnate Carl Faubert, a war veteran now private detective who must travel to Atamipek Lake in Northern Canada to solve a simple, yet lucrative case.

Your client is a rich industrialist and copper mine magnate who goes by the name of W. Hamilton. The latter accuses the local Cree community of vandalizing and stealing from his summer residence and hunting manor. The Crees are no friends to Hamilton, as they accuse him of destroying sacred lands for the sole purpose of increased profits. To begin with, the very first aspect that I loved in this game is definitely the graphics. They are breathtaking, polished and they stand out especially the environments that are simply mesmerizing and create an amazing atmosphere for all kind of players even for the most demanding ones.

Furthermore, the narration during the game adds another layer of mystery in the whole atmosphere of the game and enhances the overall great gameplay experience. Moreover, the soundtrack of the game is great as well featuring music by Quebec folk band Cur' Label. The title also blends a lot of different game elements in one game. Kona is a heavy story based title, with exploration elements and survival aspects as well

because you have to have to face nature and enemies as well during your journey and there are some puzzles to solve in this in the first out of four acts of the game. As far as the negative aspects are concerned, there aren't many aspects to mention honestly. If I had to mention one it would be the controls which I found hard to get used to especially for the car which usually ended me out off the road and also the fact that it has similarities with other games like the Long Dark. It needs to stand out and shine on its own.

To sum up, the game is simply amazing despite its early access phase, fun and the devs definitely head to the right direction concerning its development. This title has a great feature ahead of it.

Verdict: 8.5/10
