Grab The Games: Hektor

Hector is definitely the scariest game I have played after a very long time. A really unique title in every aspect but let me introduce you the game first. HEKTOR is a first-person, psychological horror game created by Rubycone and published by Meridian4 where nothing ever stays the same for long. Explore a world that literally moves with your every twist and turn, as corridors shift and change before your eyes. Uncover cryptic clues to help you find your way and elude the horrors that only madness can conjure.

You were a subject at HEKTOR, a now defunct, covert research facility buried deep beneath northern Greenland. Forgotten in its dark corridors with only a lighter and flashlight to guide your way, you must overcome a psychosis brought on by years of torture and confinement to escape. First and foremost, the very first think I loved in this game is definitely the atmosphere that creates. Dark, full of mystery and scary most of the times as the player tries to unfold his story and explore the military site! To create this atmosphere something that helps a lot is the background noises and whispers that will truly make you shiver. Another think that is definitely a signature of this game is that nothing stays the same.

The title uses a technology that changes the rooms, corridors etc randomly. In a few words, this technology alters the path you've come from as well as the path you're going. This is a positive aspect since it enhances the difficulty of the game and it also helps the players to second guess their every move and discover more secrets and clues that will help them move on. Another unique aspect of the game that I love is that you should always be aware of your psychosis. You are ill you so you always have to take your pills and well if you don't. I will let this aspect to be discovered by you guys! Now that I mention the pills, there are a lot of items that you can collect and that they will help you along your journey (hopefully towards your escape) and also understand what happened to you.

The game also has achievements, trading cards and soon full controller support. Another thing worth mentioning and it is something that definitely makes the game scarier is that there is a monster that constantly pursues you and others that can alert him of your presence. However there are a few negative aspects that I should mention but bear in mind those they will definitely not spoil the fun of this title. The first negative for me is that if you are out of pills then thinks are getting a little bit annoying with your psychosis and how things are displayed in your screen (it really is realistic but sometimes it is unbearable). Another negative for me is that you can easily get lost in the game and end up making circles.

To sum up, to summarize this game in 3 words. Dark, Scary, Unique. This title is definitely a gem in your library and I totally recommend it to everyone that loves this kind of games! Rubycone has achieved something great here. They have delivered a game that can wake up your deepest nightmares.
