Uncertain: Episode 1-The Last Quiet Day
Finally Uncertain is live on Steam, a few days now, and I couldn’t be happier not only that we have our hands on it but also that we are going to present you a full review of the title! But what is this game? Is it worth the hype? Should you pick it up right now or wait for it? Stick around and you will find out now. Let’s start by mentioning a few things about the game itself. Imagine making moral choices in a world devoid of morality. Logic rules this world, and every decision is just a set of zeros and ones. Most concepts take a whole new meaning, and some get completely abolished.
Luckily reasonable beings, even if not human, always have a choice. The Uncertain: Episode 1 - The Last Quiet Day is an episodic story-driven adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic world. In the first episode you see it from the perspective of an engineering robot RT-217NP, who seems to be very curious about the human race, long extinct in wasting wars. Experience the mysterious vibe of each of carefully explored locations. Test your skills, solving diverse puzzles. Make fateful decisions and discuss intriguing matters to find out the whole truth being kept from you. The very first aspect that really surprised me is the graphics and in general the art work of the title.
They are really sharp, unique and create an amazing atmosphere for even the most demanding players. The levels are really well created full of details and interactive features. From notes to musical instruments, everything is there for you to explore. Moreover, another strong aspect of the title is definitely the soundtrack with enhanced the overall experience. The puzzles in the title are also satisfying some of them really hard that demand thinking outside the box and fully explore the available areas.
The story is affected by dialogue and action choices and will have a few different endings. The actions of the player will affect the presence and behavior on the non-player characters in later scenes of the game which is a really cool aspect of the title. Furthermore, the story is intriguing but sometimes it unravels really slowly. Other negative aspects for me are that some people may find the controls and UI of the game really weird especially if you are using only a controller. The price also is a little bit high since it is only 1 episode currently available.
To sum up, the game despite its negatives looks and feels really amazing. I totally recommend it and I can tell that the devs have spend a great amount of time creating a fun title for even the most demanding players.
+choices through dialogs that do matter
+interactive objects that tell you more about the story
- really slow unravel of the story
